April 28 thru May 4, 2010 - California

Today we flew to California for a month's stay with Twin Martha and hubby Jim. A smooth flight out using Air Miles on American Airlines... we were able to board early as I wore my black arm cast during the trip. Food was no problem as we carried our own with us. Getting thru security was a breeze.. We did have to pay $40 to check 2 bags and then carried our backpacks and Phil's new guitar on the plane with us. Wednesday night we all watched the movie "The Hurt Locker" before heading to bed.

Spent several days adjusting to the 3 hour time difference.. So far food has not been a problem for me... I just fix my own food and a few times everyone has shared some of my food...especially the Quiche that we made on Saturday. On Sunday, after Mass, we were able to get Russell's Wii game set up so now I am able to weigh in and exercise on the Wii again. Seem to be holding at about 126.1# even with the higher amount of carbs that I am eating..most days I am totaling about 150 carbs..

Blood sugar seems to be running a bit higher...high 90's but staying below 100 which is good. Thursday we worked on cutting the net for the chair bows.. also checked the chair covers as we boxed them up. Tonight Martha & I watched the movie "It's Complicated"....we messed up Jims video set up trying to get the movie to play...took him quite awhile to get it working again. On Friday I did my INA test ... 1.8 so I was told to cut back on the greens alittle and take an extra 2 mg of Coumdin... We took time to check out the reception room at the clubhouse and talked with the catering service .. after which Martha took me on a tour of last years fire area...so many homes are being rebuilt... Friday night we went to watch Wendy's boy,Josh, play Lacrosse...great game, but we were cold and ready to go home by halftime.

Mary & Tushar were here for a wedding in San Diego so we had time to visit and discuss timetables and other wedding issues. Early Saturday morning Martha & I helped her friend, Caroline, set up and run her garage sale...enjoyed getting to know Caroline as Phil and I will be staying 3 nights with her next week. Enjoying seeing the lake with a boat ride early evening. Have started reading "Oprah" by Kitty Kelly on Martha's electronic book reader (Sony)... neat way to read a book.

On Monday I hit day 60 of being a Vegan so will stop counting as I can now say its been 2 months of eating this way. Was worried about staying on track here in California but it seems to be going well for me... the wedding next week will be hard but with proper planning am sure I will do well. Bonnie comes in on Friday and know that she will help me keep on track. Monday morning we twins picked up sister-in-law, Barbara, and drove to the huge Flower outlet, where the florist buy their supplies and walked and walked aisles of things to buy for the wedding.. they bought ribbons and items to make all the flowers for the wedding..also ordered the fresh flowers to be picked up next week. Was fun to visit with Barbara whom I have not seen for several years. Leaving Barbara with her McDonald's lunch we drove to the cemetery to dig out the flower holders at Jim's parents graves....unreal how the ground had grown over the vases.

Today, Tuesday was a washing and cleaning day... later we stuffed the Church Pew bows with toilet paper (after Phil had ironed all the ribbons) then worked on creating a poster with pictures of Mary & Tushar....glad we have Phil to help as he is so good with this type of project. He also did alot of fishing in between helping us.... tonight Martha & Phil have gone to another Lacrosse Game while Jim and I have elected to stay home.. he is watching a ball game while I am catching up on my computer... then will continue reading my book on the e reader.. it's been another beautiful day here in sunny California.
