May 5 - May 11, 2010 California

Phil-Mary & Martha-Jim

Martha-Bonnie-Mary
Sunday morning

Wednesday was a busy day as we did basic cleaning downstairs...shopping at Cosco and Vons then in the afternoon Martha and I downloaded the e-book Reader program into my computer.. found that I could not read her books but I could and did purchase books & load them into my computer for reading. I purchased a Fern Michael book for $4.95 and also a free script of the movie Dear John. I am enjoying using Martha's reader for the Oprah book. Before bed we watched The Time Travelers Wife... a good chic flick which I enjoyed seeing again.

Thursday May 6th we were up early and right after breakfast drove up the mountain to Martha & Jim's "cabin" in Big Bear. They had not been there for several months ...their children and friends have been using the cabin over the winter months..so with summer just around the corner we found lots of little things to repair, clean and just generally get everything back in order. After a late lunch we loaded up the car and were back home by 4 pm. This evening we watched the dvd "The Brothers" which did not turn out to be as good as we thought that it would be. Before bed I did get an email off to Cheyenne for our Friday "chat".

Friday May 7th Today I rejoined Twitter and found Lance Armstrong's race team, Team Radio Shack, on the Internet so I can follow the bike race this summer. Phil and I set up Martha's video camera and taped my presentation of the Traveling Twins trip to Europe last spring. It's far from perfect but will be great to share with friends who have asked me to repeat the show just for them...now it will be easy to do this. Martha and I are working on doing a second tape with better quality but not sure if we will get it done because of everything that is going on. Martha, Phil & I went, this afternoon, to see the new movie, Iron Man 2. It was okay, but not nearly as good as the first one. This evening we did another boat ride on the lake and then Martha and I went to check out the DJ that has been hired for the reception.

Saturday, May 8th WoW... the Wii put me at 125.9 this morning..first time I have seen a 125 Also I did my Wii exercise this morning..This morning we picked Bonnie up at the airport..will be fun to have the 3 of us together at the same time. Jim made a great dinner for all of us tonight...been a long time since I have had artichokes..really good. Tonight we watched the movie Crazy Hearts before heading off to bed.

Sunday May 9th Up at 6:30 ..bathroom scale was down a pound..guess it pays to eat healthy foods. Morning Mass with the family... made a tofu & spinach quiche to use for dinner tonight before heading off to Jen & Kelly's for a Mother's Day Brunch. Kelly is a great cook...loves to bar b Que everything on the grill. They have a great house for entertaining. Today a lot of time was spent talking with our kids on the phone and visiting with those who live locally so think we both heard from all our kids today.

Monday May 10th The first day of a very busy week..Wedding Week...First thing this morning I got our pills boxes set up for the week and did the basic laundry etc that always need to be done. Made a trip to buy more wedding supplies and house supplies at Cosco..ended up with so much stuff that we had to hold some on our laps coming home. We 3 girls then when to the movies..wanted to see Back up Plan but as the time was wrong we went to see Date Night which was a real hoot. I have been staying on my Vegan...no not diet... plan of eating by just doing my own thing when it comes to meals and continuing to not eat anything after 7 pm in the evenings. Tonight we all sat in Bonnie's room and watched a 2 hour Dancing with the Stars show. Kind of like a mini girls night out.

Tuesday, May 11th... Thought that Shirley was going to be coming in today but her friend, Larry, had some medical problems so Shirley is going to stay home to help him. This morning Bonnie and I made a pitcher full of Dr.Oz..then while she walked and Martha went to the gym I fixed Tofu and beans then cleaned up the kitchen. By 11 we were at the movies again.....this time to watch Back Up Plan... another great chick flick...coming home we stopped at the International Food Market.. would be a great place to eat lunch as you wandered around the store...back home we picked up the guys and were off to visit the Bowers museum where Jim is a docent several days a month. The newest exhibit is The Silk Road along with displays on both Polynesian and China. Tonight we watched the elimation show on Dancing with the stars and then the new show Glee... both on Jim's large flat screen TV which was a nice change from last night.
