First thing this morning we all 4 went to Mass at St. Bartholomew Church. This is the church that I grew up in....but, with a new building in a new area of town. Always looking for familiar faces but rarely see anybody that I know.
At noon I left for Walmart...filled up the gas tank and then on to the cemetery to use the items that I had just purchased to dig out a hole close to my son David's tombstone. In this hole I buried a plastic tumbler so now I have a place to put flowers. I really need to purchase a regular vase from the cemetery but have just never done that. Have always just stuck the flowers in the ground and hoped that they would stay for awhile.
Leaving Garland Brook I drove over to meet my sister, Shirley, at Silver Oaks retirement center. There she and I visited with her Mother in law for about an hour before making our way to Parkside where our cousin, Peggy, lives in another retirement center....but Peggy was not home so then we drove to Shirley's house to visit for a couple of hours. This was really this first time since I have been here that she and I have been able to visit by ourselves.
Shirley lost her husband over a year ago and is just now in a new relationship with the nicest man, Larry, who also lost his spouse last fall. We are all so pleased
to see her so happy....they are like a couple of teenagers all giggly and full of smiles and laughter. Think that they have decided to stay at Larry's house for now as Shirley's home is much larger and comes with a lot of work keeping up a very large yard. Think that they are just so happy as bugs in a rug at his house. Meanwhile Shirley's son, Derek, stays at her house when he is in town.
Last night Gary cooked schich co bobs (this is not spelled right) of mixed veggys on separate sticks and meat on others so that I could enjoy a meal with them. That is such a great way to fix food on an open grill. Yes, I did have my veggy burger on the side. Heard from Ken Albrecht last night so looks like we will stop at his house for the night on the way home. We leave Tuesday afternoon and hope to be home in Florida by late Thursday.
