I am without wireless right now so thought that I would just type
in a journal so that when ever I reach a wi fi spot I will be able
to post. Yesterday, Friday, we were able to watch the whole
race before it was time to leave our motel…but because of a
close time finish we had to wait for a phone call to Martha in
California to find out just who had won the right to wear Yellow
during the stage 8 ride….alas it was not to be Lance as we had
hoped and not even Roberto, his team mate who had struck out on his
own ahead of his team but another rider who had somehow manage to get
ahead of them both.
By noon we had arrive at daughter Christi house, met grandson Dustin’s
girlfriend, Aubree and were soon involved watching the two of them battle
it out on the Wii Game Box that we had brought with us. Much to Dusty’s
dismay Aubree gave him a beating as she has terrific hand to eye
coordination.
Today, Saturday, Philip, Dusty & Michael have all gone fishing….while
Christi and I get a bit more sleep and watch today bike race.. So a
quiet morning for me which is good as it gives me more of a chance to
keep my bad foot up….
The guys had a great time fishing but alas…no fish for supper tonight.
Dusty told his Grandpa that this was not called catching…. just fishing.
Later this after noon we all went into town and played 18 holes of
miniature golf.
Sunday was a quiet day……but we did manage to find a parking space
at the beach where we poked our toes into the waves and walked a short
while on the hot white sand.
Monday July 13th we were up and on the road headed towards Kentucky by
6:30 AM. We drove until we reached Henderson N.C. about 1:00 PM.
We had picked up motel coupons books at the Interstate Rest Area.
First we stopped at the Best Western… no luck…but down the street the
Ramada said that if we could wait until 2 they would honor the coupon
that would give us a good discount on a very nice room. They even let
us use their free internet in the lobby while we waited. After we
settled in…. it was off to the local Walmart to buy food for supper.
As we had most of the afternoon to enjoy we brought the Wii game into
our room and had lots of fun bowling and golfing. I must admit it’s a
lot of fun to play and much better for us than just sitting in front
of the TV.
